We love how passionate Ian Somerhalder is about saving the world and making a change — heck, we consider him a role model! But when the Vampire Diaries star took to Instagram the other day and made a major dig at reality star extraordinaire Kim Kardashian, we didn’t know what to think.
“Doing this right now. I'm so grateful for the interaction — however, I'm a little scared. Concerned I should say,” Ian wrote in the caption. “It's crazy how little many know about climate change, oil, renewable energy, policy, and a safer sustainable future. Yet people know everything about Kim Kardashian! Yikes! I want to make the battle on climate change fun, engaging, community building, sustainable and sexy. Help me!!!! #climatehope #isf.”
We totally understand what Ian is getting at in his post, but did he really have to drag Kim into it? If anyone can make climate change, oil, renewable energy, policy, and sustainability fun to learn about and engage young people to get involved in making a difference, it’s Ian! The 35-year-old actor has a massive fan following — over 5 million Twitter followers and growing — but don’t fault us for our reality TV guilty pleasures, dude!
Other than trying to change the world, Ian is currently filming Season 6 of The Vampire Diaries and making huge relationship milestones with new girlfriend Nikki Reed. He recently gave us our first glance at Damon Salvatore in the new season and rumor has it things are getting “very serious” between him and Nikki. Big things are happening in Ian’s life, you guys!
