Damon Salvatore Is Really Blonde in The Vampire Diaries Season 6

We’ve spent all summer wondering where Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) and Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) are, so imagine our shock when the first behind-the-scenes photo of Damon in Season 6 shows the vamp with blood all over his face. What’s going on?! Let’s try to work through it together.

“He's back! #DamonSalvatore,” Ian captioned the photo on August 20. If you ask us, this looks like a very happy Damon, not someone who is trapped on some other unknown plane of existence with a witch he’s admittedly not very fond of. And as for the blood, while this isn’t the first gory photo we’ve seen after five years of TVD, we’re wondering where Damon got his snack this time around.
Here are some of our speculations:
1. Perhaps Damon (and maybe Bonnie?) will make a return to the land of the living early in the season. According to TVLine, they’re currently working on Episode 5.
2. Damon’s feeding off of Bonnie. If it’s just him and his witchy pal trapped wherever they are, Damon’s going to need to feed. Unless he’s eating bunnies on the Other Side — and we highly doubt that — he’s borrowing some blood from Bonnie. A vampire has to eat, you know! We don’t think he’d go as far as killing Bonnie, but you can’t put anything past Damon.
3. The quick-tempered Salvatore brother is having a good time feasting on whoever he and Bonnie might meet on the Other Side. We’re sure the folks over there — if there are any — are going to be surprised to see Damon and Bonnie; we just hope they don’t get massacred too.
